Danger in Buying Drugs at Online Pharmacies that Do Not Require Prescription

By: Rcon Franchesca

With the utmost convenience brought by the hundreds of online pharmacies found on the Internet today, many people are no longer making trips to their local drugstores just to get the medications they need. Fast, easy, and affordable – Apparently, it seems that there is really no reason for one not to adhere to the services offered by Internet pharmacies.

Unfortunately, there are a couple of reasons why people should be wary in buying over-the-counter and prescription drugs at the numerous pharmacies on the Internet today. One major reason for this is that there are a lot of online pharmacies that do not require prescription from their customers.

Internet pharmacies that do not ask for prescriptions, according to the United States’ Food and Drug Administration (FDA), should be avoided by consumers who are looking for reliable websites to get medications from. FDA strongly insists that it is not safe for consumers to rely their medication needs on websites that do not seem to operate by the law.

To further expound on the complications associated in ordering or purchasing medications via unregistered online pharmacies, below is a list of the danger brought by buying drugs on the Internet:

1. Health complications.

When you are lured to get medication refills at an unlicensed online pharmacy, you are likely to end up having health complications. See, websites that do not ask for prescriptions are most likely distributing medications that are contaminated, counterfeit, or fake. Hence, taking such state of medications can cause health-related problems or complications.

2. Financial glitches.

When you chose to buy medications via unregistered online pharmacies, there is a big chance that the medications you ordered will never be delivered to you. Your lose in this situation is big, for you paid for the medication plus the shipment fee, yet the medicines you ordered will never be delivered to you.

3. Questionable safety and security.

Naturally, you ordered for medication refills in an unlicensed online pharmacy, hence, the site may not be considering the safety and security of their clients. These rogue websites may use or give your personal and financial information to third party entities for spamming purposes.

4. False promises on benefits.

There is no such thing as miracle or instant cure. If it is your first time to utilize the services of online pharmacies, then you might be duped by the flowery promotions set by most rogue Internet drugstores. One common technique of hoax online pharmacies proliferating the web today is the promotion of exaggeratingly low price offerings on their featured medications and medical supplies. These sites may be offering cheap prices on their services and products, but they maybe charging high fees on shipment. The products may also be fake or contaminated that’s why they are offered at very low prices.

Overall, buying or ordering medications via the Internet is fine. In fact, it is really a convenient alternative to purchasing medications in brick and mortar drugstores. Consumers should just make sure that the website they choose is a legitimate or licensed online pharmacy in order to avoid having complications in health and finances.
