Panic Attack Treatment and Cures

As anyone who has suffered a panic attack can tell you, they are extremely terrifying and upsetting experiences. They are periods of extreme anxiety and fear which occur without warning.

The symptoms of a panic attack include:

- Increased amounts of sweating

- Dyspnea - shortness of breath

- Racing heart

- Terrifying thoughts

- Extreme worried feeling

- Feeling of excitement

- Tunnel vision

- Feeling of losing free will

- Uncontrollable crying

Most panic attack symptoms last for around ten minutes. That can however, last as little 5 minutes. Typically, other psychological disorders are present with panic attacks.

Panic attacks are the result of the "fight or flight" response which involves flooding the body with adrenaline in anticipation of needing to run from danger or fight for your life. With panic attacks however, this "fight or flight" response occurs out of context.

Causes of Panic Attack

There are a number of causes of panic attack. It has been found that an overly cautious view of the world and stress that has accumulated over a long period of time can cause panic attacks to begin. A major personal loss, such as the death of a spouse of partner, or other major life changes can also be cause. Drugs, including legal ones like caffeine and pain killers or illegal one such as marijuana and speed, can also trigger anxiety and panic attacks.

Panic attacks can also be symptom of other psychological disorders such as post traumatic stress or anxiety.

Panic Attack Remedies

One of the more successful treatments of panic attack is a combination of psychological and pharmacological remedies. That is, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) - a psychological techniques - and anti-anxiety drugs.

Finally, there are now dozens of products available to treat panic attacks which have been developed by people who have overcome the condition without drugs. These products typically come in home study form and allow individuals to learn how to treat their panic attack conditions in the comfort of their own home.
