Physicans are Joining the Wellness Revolution

Why physicians join the Wellness Revolution...
I have spoken to over 100 physicians over the past 18 months. Most had no idea that the Wellness Revolution Ship had left the dock. I am the messenger bringing the news to the medical community. Yes! The time is now. We must act. Why?

Patients look to their physicians for direction and advice on looking better, feeling better, and getting better. Look around. Do people look like traditional health care methods and treatments are working? Of course not. People are more overweight than they have ever been even in the face of all the TV commercials, miracle “pills”, gyms, low calorie soft drinks, magazine ads, etc. etc. etc. Nothing is working. More people are becoming diabetic due to excess body fat. More diabetics are encountering serious secondary problems such as kidney disease/failure, heart problems, and vision problems. Many experience an inability to cope with the dietary restrictions in this era of supersized everything. So, they ask their physician what to do. The physician has little to offer than “eat less, exercise more”. Yes, exercise is great. NO! Not eat less. Eating less by itself is not the answer. Physicians must learn the A B C‘s of nutrition. That is why their membership in the Wellness Revolution is crucial to its success. Why? Because they have great influence on their patients beliefs and actions.

There is an answer to the obesity question. Focus your diet on getting the right amount of protein, eat the “good” carbohydrates, have wonderfully colorful meals (meaning lots of colorful fruits and veggies), enjoy some of your favorite foods, and drink plenty of water. What is the right amount of protein? You should be getting 1 gram of protein for every pound of lean body mass. Lean body mass is everything except fat. Please note: the protein should be 2/3 plant-based protein and 1/3 animal protein. This will feed your body what it needs and not contribute excess animal fat to your cardiovascular system. Now why don’t physicians tell you this? They simply don’t know. They haven’t been taught very much about nutrition or nutritional supplementation. Why supplement? You simply aren’t getting enough nutrients in the food you eat. The soil, growing methods, storage & shipping methods all prevent us getting the nutrients our forefathers enjoyed. So, we must supplement.

Physicians, if you fall into one of three categories below, you will want to incorporate nutritional counseling into your practice. I mean nutritional counseling beyond that which your licensed dietician gives. What you ask? Yes. I said it. What your licensed dietician is doing is not enough! If it were, we would all be looking and feeling great. We aren’t. It is as simple as that.

#1. You care more about your patients than you do about yourself.
#2. You desire to increase your income (for whatever reason) without extending your hours.
#3. You have always been or want to become an “out of the box” thinker

Physicians, if you meet any of the criteria listed above, incorporating Nutrition and Nutritional supplementation into your practice is the answer for you. Many physicians have already seen the profound effect that even a slight nutritional intervention has on the patient. Many have seen incredible income growth. Instead of being restricted to only linear income, these physicians have created “passive” income. In other words they have learned to leverage their time and energy by helping people regain or stay healthy. How wonderful is that?
