With the clamor behind the Kugel Mesh recall, it’s first important to know what a hernia is. A hernia is a condition where a fraction of the internal organs bulge via a weak area in the muscles—normally in the abdomen or groin. The makers of implanted medical devices, the C.R. Bard Corporation sent out a Kugel Mesh recall in 2005. It urged physicians to cease using several versions of the Kugel Mesh hernia patch. This is due to a plastic component which could crack and even cut through the patient’s internal body tissue and organs. The Kugel Mesh recall was given when medical experts discovered these symptoms could allegedly have also been caused by a ring fracture within the Kugel Mesh patch. The allegedly known symptoms of ring breakage are rawness at the implant site, fever and persistent abdominal pain.
